Description
Colorimetric substrate for caspase-3 (CPP32; Apopain; Yama) (Km~10 μM) and related cysteine proteases. Sequence is based on PARP (poly(ADPribose) polymerase) cleavage site Asp-216 for CPP32. The Z-moiety increases cell-permeability of the peptide. Cleavage of the substrate by a caspase releases pNA, which can be detected by its absorbance at 405 nm (ε=10,500 M-1cm-1).
